That was a nice bit of randomness...i'm gonna be stuck in this thread all day...
I think we should have more reading of fiction. I mean, a lot of those fics people write no one reads, because honestly we don;t have time. The best thing to do is to print them out, then review later. Anyone have a smart(er) plan for organizing reading?

*blank look*
My printer's broken... so I'm forced to fry my eyes to read all fics 'n stuff. Which is why I haven't read them all... *twiddles fingers*

Oh that's alright, I was just writing from the point of view of the writer who wants to be read.

I COMPLETELY know what ya mean.
Well, it consists of three problems:
1) Laziness 2) Lack of will 3) Dislike of story
#1 happens to me all the time. I'm just to lazy to read anything. Same goes for posting.
#2 Usually happens to me when I want to read it, but never get around to it. Then I forget and months pass...etc.
#3...well, sometimes I like the looks of a story, sometimes I don't.
But I did print off TAS and I'm at chappie 19 now. Again, all of your work, Cy, is just amazing. I intend to review after I read it fully.

And there's really something better about reading off the screen...especially when you don;t have DSL and are blocking the phone liines. But printing seems better some how. Boredom can grow quicker when staring at a screen. I'd write more butI;m running out of time...reason #4 no time.

Reason five is probably mine alone: parents, evil parents. Heh. They don't like. Still, I read a fair amount on screen (tell them you're doing homework then have a second screen up with the story and watch it there).
But you're right, boredom does grow quicker on screen. Why? I mean, paper is, if anything, less interesting, so why is a screen more boring?

I don't really know. It may be something about the massive potential of things one can do on the computer. On paper, you know what you're doing is reading and that's what's going down. On the Internet, you've often got things coming in at you, popups, things on the sides of sides of screens. There's also the fact that we modern day people expect the comp to be instantaneous gratification, *zip*, and what you wanted's done. Reading can never give you that, which is one of the good things about it.

Thats a good point. People should slow down, I guess, and stop needing everything instantly.

I've been interested in the fandom subculture lately. Some people--we--are so embued in it online. Little packets of interesting discussion, we are, and we create slang and stuff that translates to the real world. The Internet is so intangible and dangerous...we trust that it's not gonna lose everything. I have written more fanfic than I wanted to lately. My OFs are stuck, and I got 'inspired' by this new SW book. Funny how that happens. Hey Silver. Why'd you change your name?

Think about it....FOX-hunter. Mwahahaha...Who's the Fox?
It's the government's way of keeping an eye on us. *snrk* They track what we write, do, say, chat about... How do we really know they don't? Never trust the internet...
Actually, in all seriuosness the government does track us through the internet. They have programs set up to track red flag sites and those who visit them. Say you go to a site that tells you how to make a bomb. The government tracks that and keeps an eye on the person who was in that website. The computer in general is a dangerous tool. Never EVER type anything on it that you wouldn't want someone else to see. Even if you don't save it or delete it from your computer it can still be found. One of the fastest growing crimes is that of computer crimes. It's so easy for the government to track every single site you visit it isn't even funny.
It's always been said words were the only things that couldn't be tracked, but with technology today it makes it so easy to record what someone was saying. I have seen people completely destroyed by something they said and didn't neccesarily mean.
Ah, I've totally strayed from the topic. In fact, I'm not really sure what this topic is about in the first place. Fandoms? Oh yes...I haven't written many of those. I do have an X-File one half through the beginning stages. I should probably finish that one...
