I was thinking one day, and wanted to make a post where I could discuss Zelda. Now, a pure Zelda post would soon become very boring to some people and would undoubtly become soon off topic; so then I came up with this thread!
This is where you can relate to others of your love for your fandom. Tell of your favorite events from fandom; ones that were joyful; ones of sadness; ones of excitement and anticipatment; and ones of pure, utter bliss.
I remember the first time I beat Ganon in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I was 11 years old, and it was around Christmas. I had toiled for many weeks over this game, and finally I was at the climax. My mom said that friends were outside, asking for me to play; I told her I was busy. ;D I'm so mean, but this was something I had worked for for so long. Zelda holds it's gamer in an unwavering attention; it is a truely magical thing.
When I delivered the final blow to the King of Evil, I sat there aghast. I did it. I had won. The game of the year; of the decade; of all time--I had beat it. As the credits rolled, I couldn't help but feel slightly sad. It was over. Of course, I'd end up playing through the game over 30 times, but nothing is the same like the first time. It was definently one of the most magical moments of my life. ;D

Wow...that's awesomeness beyond kool-aid! Two major events in one day! ;D Doesn't get much better than that...unless you up the number to like 3 or 4. lol ;D

wow. That's deep. I mean, some people would laugh at us for this. Me, I'm obsessed, with SW, I just live there, it just kindof grabbed me and hasn't let go yet. I love the worlds, the scenes, the feel, the music...and KT, it's your fault. muahaha.... There's this shivery feeling of Epic you get, and that came with the destruction of the Death Star, and I was just like wow I wish I could do that, go there. For me it's a lot about...what I want to be.

Wow...that's awesome, Cy. Yeah, that Death Star destruction scene in its time was the most visually stunning thing I had ever seen. It is a very goosebumby moment.
Probably the happiest moment of my life was Zelda related, but I wasn't playing a game. I get goosebumbs still thinking about it.
For 4 years, there has not been a truely amazing Zelda. After Majora's Mask, there was The Wind Waker. It was only so so, and the worst of it was it's graphics: they were cel-shaded, a.k.a., cartoony.
In May, 2004, at the E3 (Electronics Entertainment Expo), everyone was sure that Nintendo would reveal another cartoony Zelda. Then Nintendo dropped the atomic bomb: they released a trailer of a new, "realistic" Zelda. It was at the core of all things awesomeness beyond kool-aid. people even boast about the fact that it was the only tear-generating trailer/game of the expo. I can't hide the fact that I cried as well: I couldn't help it. It was as if you lost all hope of regaining something very dear to you, then find that it returns and is better than when you lost it. Nothing compares. Zelda truly owns.
The Link in my Sig is the Link featured from that game. Man, I can't wait till it releases. ;D FIRST IN LINE!!! (I really mean this: I am going to be there when the store opens. ;D)

wow. You're lucky you get to go to cons. There's none near here! I mean you think they'd be a bunch in NYC but NO i have none. *sniff* I will prpbably cry at ep. III just because it's over. I am saddened to think that fans will die out then...I DON'T WANNA BE AN ENDANGERED SPECIES!

True fans never die out. Look at LotR, and many other fandoms. They continue. SW will not die. It's too vast and full of potential for fanfics and such.
Actually, I didn't get to go to E3. It's a restricted viewing convetion. But through the internet (ah, such a wonderful and vast flow of info) I got to download the treailer, see pics, etc. So it was almost like being there, cept without the mad mod calling out for more Zelda. ;D
Yes, it will be sad. Just like LotR. It'll be over. But who knows, with so many books, there's always the possibility of a movie of them. Rogue Squadron, anyone? Or maybe Shadows of the Empire...that was an awesome book.

I guess you're right.I have to say I never read SotE. I'm not into that era. What's it about? I probably know the events. I'm Rebellion. Rogue Squadron is very cool.

SotE...Well, there was a lot I don't remember, but it was pretty cool. Not much Luke, but there was quite a bit of Han...I really cant recal. It had to do with some sith guy, I believe. It was pretty epic, nonetheless. ;D

Oh, poor Luke. And there's a lot of Sith..but okay. I kindof pulled us off track.

Well it was about fandom. I think it was permissable. ;D
I remember the day when I first saw LotR...I didn't really wanna, but my dad thought me and my sis would like it.
Oh am I glad we did.
It was awesomeness. Moria...the Ring...Frodo...Gandalf; all so cool. I ended up buying the books shortly thereafter, and even cards and such. Such awesomeness. ;D

I had read the books many a time before, so it was a returning to me. The night we saw Fellowship it was snowing outside, and there's this hill in front of my moms house that was completely covered with snow so afterward we had to park the car in town at the bottom and walk up. It was like living Caradhras after watching it. Quite epic...and very very cold.

Wow! That's epic! After seeing FotR, all I could do was pretend characters in Melee were the ones from the movie...although we often still do that. ;D
Let's see...another awesome moment...ah, got it.
When I was 6 years old, me and my mom went to this garage sale. I found a copy of The Legend of Zelda there for a mere 1 buck. I had played it before at various places, but I id not own it. And to a 6 year old, the shiny gold game is a reason in itself to buy it. ;D
The Legend of Zelda is far too hard a game for a 6 year old to beat. I could get past the first temple, but that was it. The second I would not even find until I was 11.
Now, fast forward 10 years. Somewhere around August, 2004. I had beaten the first adventure in the game years ago, but the second adventure was another story. That game is extreamly hard. then I found it: the 7th level. I'd been searching for so long. I had bombed every wall, killed every enemy, and earched the land of Hyrule many times, but accidentaly I had found it: under some obscure bush. ;D After 10 years I finally beat it completely. It was very cool. Not as memorable as OoT, but it was an accomplishment for me at least. ;D

Fun stuff. But, "second adventure"? Is that a technical term? Fandom gives one the ability to sit and of other worlds when this one turns bad
"If a man, sitting all alone connot dream strange things, and make them look like truth, he need never try to write romances." -Nathaniel Hawthorne We're reading The Scarlet Letter in English II...i figured that was relevant. By romance he means non-reality, fiction, not what the word means today.

coolness! Do you make costumes? I havn't had much luck with them, except my awesomness Jedi robe that I wear on Haloween and cold nghts, because it's felt and warm. Then there's the potential of face paint...I am so gonna look like Darth Maul one day, just to say I did. ;D Maybe May. ;D

Ahh, fandom.
I'm what's called a Tolkien Purist. Meaning, I read the books far before the movies came out, and the books still hold precidence. I sorta feel that the movies are a separate story, as they really don't follow the books but in general outline. I've read them so many times, I have sections memorized...
And I have costumes, as well. My cloak is the schizz. It's all green and purdy. I was an elf for Halloween two years in a row... different costumes both times. Beware the short and pointy stick of DOOM!!
I suppose I also count as a Tad Williams fangirl. One of the only ones in the world, I suppose. The Sithi are so beautiful. They've made an appearance in part of the fanfic that I'm helping Warious write. *sigh* But there shall be no more Sithi books..... must wait for Shadowmarch.... *dies*

Fandom can be very useful for getting rid of emotions. I can do things in fiction i would never be able to do in real life, or else i'd be arrested. Fandom also is an escape.

Yes, I think fandom is a good escape! Get out of this world and into another. I'll do that sometimes . hide in my room at night and pot on my costume..........it makes me feel better
