Nintendo, ah, how I love thee.
They say you dissapoint...
They say you are "so yesterday"
They disregard you...
They make fun of you...
They laugh at you...
Who's laughing now?
Nintendo fans, rejoice!
It's at times like these we remember:
This is why we became fans,
This is why we remain fans,
This is why we will be fans;
I have been faithful,
I have waited with anticipation,
And you have dilivered.
It's at moments like these...
I'm proud to be a Nintendo fan.Sony, Microsoft, eat Zelda's dust.
Ok, so these our my impressions on the new info. I'll slip in a few screens, as well as some very new, VERY awesome info.
First of all, Nintendo rocks. Zelda rocks. After seeing the trailer; after looking at the screens; after watching for the first time
real game footage, I've made the bet to myself: if this Zelda is all it promises to be, it'll become the best game of all time, outdoing
Ocarina BY FAR. Behold, some new info:
-The title of the game comes from the "Twilight" which is apparently a dark and evil force spreading throughout the world. Seems like there's some sort of a Dark/Light world thing going on.
-Link Transforms into a wolf whenever he enters the "Twilight" world. He is NOT a Werewolf
-The Female creature (Midna) shown in the trailer riding link is an enemy of some sort, but you have to team up to fight an even greater evil.
-Link can talk to animals, and they teach you abilities throughout the game.
-Certain puzzles in dungeons require you going back and forth between the Light and Twilight worlds. (Similar to Link to the past and Metroid Prime 2)
-The entire soundtrack is fully orchestrated for the first time in Zelda history.
-The game is going to feature more Dungeons than OOT and the overall scale of the game is much much larger.
-The game will take place a few decades after Ocarina of Time, and it is in the same timeline as The Wind Waker. This is a new Link.
-Zelda's robe (Yes, Zelda IS the person in black) protects her from the evil forces of the "Twilight" world. She's apparently a prisoner.
"The game is going to feature more Dungeons than OOT and the overall scale of the game is much much larger!" "The entire soundtrack is fully orchestrated for the first time in Zelda history." Read, rejoice, and be glad! These two facts confirm my thoughts that the game will totally kill all other games before it. Also, the horse will be able to be named by yourself. Awesomeness. It'll rock.
With each passing moment, this game gets better and better. In my heart, it's been released time and time again. It's captured my heart and elevated it to a level I never thought a game could. I've had goosebups nearly all day. My eyes have been rarely dry. My anticipation has gotten to the point that I wish I had a time machine; I. Can't. Wait. Best part? This is just the beginning...this was all just from the pre-show. There are still the three days of E3 left.
Well, now for the trailer impressions.
img.photobucket.com/albums/v357/MFBaggins/pic1.jpgThe trailer opens in a grey-toned world. Black specks litter the air, while ominous carrion birds swerve around a towering castle. They may be dragons. The scorched skys open to reveal a portal eched with designs:
img.photobucket.com/albums/v357/MFBaggins/pic29.jpgEvil being fall from the sky. A fleeting glimpse of the cloaked figure watching through a window, and the trailer intros our hero, Link. There is a new major character introed here as well: Colin (excuse me if I got this name wring...info is scattered).
img.photobucket.com/albums/v357/MFBaggins/pic34.jpgAnd his sister, Ilia:
img.photobucket.com/albums/v357/MFBaggins/e3_new_zelda_13.jpgHe and his sister will play a major part in the game: they will launch Link on his quest. I'll explain in the game footage comments.
Link ventures into a forest in one of the following scenes. The lighting here is...unbelieveable. No picture captures the moment.
img.photobucket.com/albums/v357/MFBaggins/pic2.jpgThe cloak figure is then shown, and
her face slightly revealed (in above pics).
img.photobucket.com/albums/v357/MFBaggins/pic6.jpgOur hero falls to his knees...what could be happening to him? Answer: transformation. This is a breathtaking moment that can't be captured in pictures.
img.photobucket.com/albums/v357/MFBaggins/pic7.jpgimg.photobucket.com/albums/v357/MFBaggins/pic8.jpgimg.photobucket.com/albums/v357/MFBaggins/pic10.jpgLink isn't too happy about being turned into a wolf...and getting captured. He tried breaking his bonds, but then, a mysterious figure appears called Midna.
img.photobucket.com/albums/v357/MFBaggins/pic13.jpgimg.photobucket.com/albums/v357/MFBaggins/pic12.jpgWith her help, Link breaks free and the two go off to fight their way out of the Twilight Realm and free Hyrule from this curse. Some more scenes depict fighting, villagers, and an epic sunset joust. Pics below.
img.photobucket.com/albums/v357/MFBaggins/pic25.jpgimg.photobucket.com/albums/v357/MFBaggins/pic26.jpgThe best explosions I've ever seen. One more thing that Twilight Princess does best visually over every other game...
img.photobucket.com/albums/v357/MFBaggins/pic24.jpgYOU'LL BE ABBLE TO DIFLECT ARROWS WITH YOUR SWORD!!!! Awesomeness.
img.photobucket.com/albums/v357/MFBaggins/pic18.jpgMan, I already hate this Bokoblin leader. Capturing children and tying them to a pole like a makeshift flag?! Repulsilve.
img.photobucket.com/albums/v357/MFBaggins/pic21.jpgLink, go kick his sorry butt. Good bye evil dude!
And the trailer closes with this absolutely beautiful shot of a sunset joust.
But that was not all that was shown today. At another press meeting, Twilight Princess was shown in a fully playable demo, and let me tell you, the hour or so of footage is absolutely breathtaking. The interface itself is so elegant. Designs border and surround the buttons in the right-hand corner, and the text boxes as well. The controls look intuitive. The control pad seems to be used for items. Awesome. People moove their lips as they talk (though no official word if voice acting is in the game).
But most impressive? The cinema scene where Ilia and Colin get kidnaped. Link follows Colin to a secret grove where waits his steed and Ilia. Some talking goes on, all the while the characters move
like something out of a Pixar flic. No joke. The expressions are the most breathtaking...watching Link's face as Bokoblin wariors attack their peaceful grove; he watches Ilia ghet his with an arrow (I think), he himself getting kocked out via a club. Their movements and facial expressions are so REAL! In one simple moment, Link no longer was a video game character. He was as real as can be. Truley, the expression "words cannot describe" is most fitting here. You forget this is a game...it's more like a CG movie. Don't belueve me? Wait till you see the game. I can't direct link the video because 1) it's 90 MB, and I don't think anyone here (besides me}) has the time to download such a thing, and 2) the servers are slow right now, and I don't know when it'll be back up. But take my word for it, you'll be wowed beyond anything you thought you could be in a video game. I myself think it to be the most astounding aspect of this new Zelda.
EDIT: Actually, I cut the scene and made this:
www.angelfire.com/rings/masterfrodobaggins/cinemascene.wmvThat's about 8 MB, so you shopuld be able to download it even on Dial-Up, if you have patience.
It's worth it.
I'm ready, are you?
