I don't think he has any intent on fooling the world. He's simply voicing his ideas. It just so happens that his ideas make a good story.
I don't think anyone is attacking anyone.
Yes, there is a devil and Hell...but I can only say that for Earth, as I know not what comes beyond our existance on Earth, and I don't pretend to know either. I've seen the worst of the worst in people. I've seen people in a Hell on earth. I've seen Evil, things that can't be explained. A devil exists, but I'm not so sure I believe the devil is a person. I tend to think of the devil as a force almost. Something that just exists, but doesn't have a mind. I think it exists in nature, as well as in human nature. Animals can have devils, just as people have devils.
I think people need to read the Davinci code if they want to argue against it's so called "Teachings". You can't argue something based off of someone elses facts or opinions. Make up your own opinions. Who knows? Some may go in there dead set that the movie is evil and come out thinking "Hey, maybe it is a good storyline afterall". Make your own opinions.

I find this to be quite an interesting topic. I honestly know very little about both book and movie, but what I do know is that they are decidedly and morally against Christianity. I do not wish to condemn anyone...that is not my place.
I am a Christian, and a Roman Catholic, and know MFB from MEI. (sadly it has been long since I have heard anything from him. oh well...another friendship untouched in the threads of life's busy days.)
I can't have any place to say that I think people shouldn't go to the movie. Of course I want to discourage such...it is, after all, just entertainment...and there are plenty other more exciting, funny, satirical, and action-packed movies out there much more worth people's time and money than the Da Vinci Code. I've heard reports that it has a LOT of dialogue and not very much action, boring in that sense. I guess I just find that it's too bad Ian McKellen and Tom Hanks starred in such a movie. Perhaps some of you would like to read "The Da Vinci Hoax", which defines the crooked ways that the Da Vinci Code has used to warp history and facts. I am afraid I don't know who it is by at the moment.
I don't want this to become a fight. People have their opinions. But, in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ, through the outpouring of His Precious Blood, I do beg that all my brothers and sisters who read this would consider in their hearts and consciences the painful and triumphant death of Our Lord, that they would consider how much of a slander, fictional or not, such a book and movie can be to the Divine God made Man. Did the King of Kings suffer and die on a wooden tree so that His dearly beloved children could attend movies and books that harm Him and draw them away from Him, and lead away all those who seek truth and who are ignorant of Him, and lead into doubt all those who must try to defy such accusations? Certainly not. Let us all walk in His Will. Let us all continue to pray for one another with increased devotion. But most especially, let us all pray for those who are our enemies, those who spit on us, and put us down, and "rebel" against our open beliefs. For we may pray that we will know this: that there is no greater joy, no greater unselfish love, no greater faith, than to be able and willing and seeking to attain a part in the same sufferings which Our Dearest Beloved Lord has endured.
I hope that passage wasn't too much of a sermon for non-Christians, and I hope no one was offended. But, hey, if you want to read a good book, pick up "Lay Siege to Heaven" by Louis De Wahl. Or if you're not interested in Christian books, then pick up "Among the Hidden" by Margaret Patterson-Haddix. Both are infinitely preferable to such a book as the Da Vinci Code. Thanks for your time. ~Kira (aka Kiranitha Lei Aena, Supergirl, and N.C. Morris)
P.S."Evil is a term which man has created to describe the result of the absence of God's presence in the hearts of man."~Albert Einstein

I too am sad that Tom Hanks and Sir Ian McKellen are in the film. Why? Their just actors. We don't know how they feel based on what movies they're in. Ray Park's really a nice guy and he always playes baddies... WOo! This is actually a good nonarguement discussion. I was thinking the other day how terrible it is how these days, and probably also much time in the past, religous discussions turn into arguements. God doesn't want that-- You might be interested in reading Out of the Silent Planet.

Here's three more questions for everyone answer them please
1) have you either read the book or seen the movie? 2) Why do you think everyone is against this book? 3) Are you sideing with your faith just because it is your faith?
I am not trying to insult anyone, I am just trying to get a bigger picture of the arguement.

1) No. I have read quotes for the book, heard about the book, read about the author, everything but seeing or reading the actual thing. 2) I've stated that in my above posts, I believe. 3) Blindly following my faith? No. I don't do that. I truly believe all that my faith teaches, this matter included, which I think is more that just "following my faith just because it's my faith." I'm assuming that's what you meant by that Q.

No I meant that if you had to pick a side would you chose your own side right away or would you wait and see what all the fuss is about. That is all I meant.

HI PEOPLE OF THE CHICKEN INFESTED BASE OF DOOM!!!! IT IS YOUR LONG LOST SITH FEIND WARIOUS!!!!! AREN'T YOU ALL GALD TO SEE ME AGAIN IN A 'CONTROVERSIAL' THREAD? NO? AH WELL...ER...I'M TALKING IN CAPS AGAIN AREN'T I? SORRY 'BOUT THAT. There...how's that? Okay Yah...I'm only on here because my lil friend Xentus Nightblade asked me to take a look. I'm this conversation managed to calm down a bit. No I'm not here to discourse on the subjcet of the Davinchi code because I'm here to post a link to a person's blog entry on mindsay that says pretty much how I feel on this fiasco and much nicer then I ever could. ^_^ booksay.mindsay.com/chapter_23_brewing_controversy_part_one.mwsNot meant to be personal 'gainst ya'lls thoughts and feelings and I hope yall have a nice day... Just wanted ya's to see it tha's all. (All spellings intentional) I will answer the questions though 1) Are you a Christian? Yes..last time I checked anyway ^_^ 2) Do you belive that any, if not all, of the things that the Davinci Code said are true? ER...No. It's called FICTION...And While I may believe in the Force this doens't mean I'm going to believe some dumb author that lives in the same state I do. -_-' 3) Do you belive fighting like this is going to (figuratively) bear good fruit? Nope ^_^ Smart kid this nightblade. 1) have you either read the book or seen the movie? Vicariously and I will be seeing it because dad wants to. 2) Why do you think everyone is against this book? THey'r nutters that's why. Good fiction is hard to come by. By this I mean a good plot and captureing the immagination. 3) Are you sideing with your faith just because it is your faith? What does sides have to do with reading or not reading a book and appreciating a good plot line?! ?! ?! Good greif. (Being a Book lover this is a rather silly argument in general)

I don't have any idea where he got that as a historical thing. If Jesus did have descendants they would start out Aramaic as He was, and we know the Aramaic race became the current Middle East/Isreal area. 1. read the book 2. because it states porported facts against our faith, of course! You defend what you believe in. 3. In a way I guess I am siding with my faith because it is my faith. I mean that's why it's my faith and belief, I side with it. I don't go into anything blind though, no. I've had a lot of questions about how God of the Bible deals with things and have had most of them answered. What is the movie Labyrinth anyway? A culty fantasy like Princess Bride? I hear a second Labyrinth movie is coming out...no, that was Dark Crystal...? Did Lucas have anything to do with it?

This is somewhat off topic, but I saw a Da-vinci code board game the other day. I bet that game is thrilling...
