I just saw the movie "Saw". Its almost like a Silence of the Lambs type movie. It was pretty gory too, but fairly good. I liked Hannibal and Silence of the Lambs much better though.

Yeah, I was on a site the other night for "Advent Children." I would suppoose the game is better than the movie in this sense, as most VG based movies are.

I s'pose it was, as the Final Fantasy games are rather good.
I'd like to see a Zelda movie come out... although, if they butchered it (which they probably would) I would be really mad. So maybe they shouldn't... I spend far too much time mad, as it is.

MFB is/was gonna make a Zelda movie...the thing is, with Those it either has to be an exact retelling of the game (but cool enough not to bo boring) or a new thing in the same tradition, which often, like sequels, is no good. it would be cool to see a live-action Zelda, though you'd have to get everything right for the fans--and 'right' is not the same to all.c

Heh.. I saw Resident Evil: Apocalypse last night... we shut off all the lights, ya know, to make it scarier. But, I must say, I still laughed through the whole thing. When the Umbrella guy got eaten by the undead people.... ah, the irony. Stupid movie. Silver was right: not really worth it. Unless you want to laugh a bunch....
Also watched the Village. That was creepy. Who says sight isn't the frightening part of thrillers? They Who Must Not Be Named are freaky!! Watched it, then had to take out the garbage in the dark, across the yard. And my cat ran across behind me... *shivers* Freakiness.

She is absolutely, exactly right. The Legend of Zelda has one of the largest fanbases in Video Games; at the least, the Zelda online community is so enourmous it dwarfs all other Video Game webs. Go onto places like www.ganonstower.com or www.zeldalegends.net/ and look at the affiliates. And that's only the LARGER sites; there are dozens of smaller sites. Alas, I digress. Cy mentioned that I once was foolish enough to have the dream of directing the Zelda movie. Although this was once true, I now see the improbablility of this coming true. I can't see myself becoming a director (with schooling for it, at least) and even if I did, I'd still have the problem of getting Nintendo to sign over the rights. Many other people are trying to get these right, some of whom have actutal schooling for directing. ( zhq2.com movie section) Putting that aside, these are my thoughts on how such a movie would have to be made. First off, the story could not be origonal. That's the most common mistake in fan's interpretation of Zelda: everyone has a different idea about it. Zelda is Zelda and no single person can create a good Zelda story. The stories for the games are collaberations of developers, directors, and producers. Fan made stories and games often fail in this regard, as they don't capture the magic of the canon. So the story should follow a popular game, OoT likely. If they were to be made a trilogy, I'd say OoT-TWW-New Zelda would be most likely (assuming the New Zelda has at least as compellng a story as TWW). Seeing as OoT is the creation of the old Hyrule, and the formation of the legend, TWW would follow up with the fall of Hyrule and the Hero, and the rising up of another. That way the third could be the matruing of Link, as he faces whatever the epic task will be in the New Zelda. Character wise, this is the absolute worst part of the Zelda-Movie trasition. Zelda characters often excersice a form of anti-cinematic behavior. Take Ganondorf in OoT. He outright says he's evil, wants an all powerful thing, and makes no transition from good to bad. Which is why he should follow more in TWW style, with a sort of humanisim to him, and even a kindness in a sarcastic way. Ganon would take a lot of changes...but not as much as Link would have to... Link, the silent Hero; the one you play. Link is you. Link is the person he's played by. This is not just my oppinion, but the hope of Shigeru Miyamoto himself, the Zelda creator. Link does not speak scentences in any Zelda, aside from "Come on!" when you do certain actions in TWW. Link would have to speak, yes, but not that much. And when he'd speak it'd have to be epic. Every word. At least, that's what I think. Then comes to the unavoidable problem of the Zelda/Link relation. The game never says that they have a thing for each other. But fans have created the assumption that they love each other. Likely, if this movie was made by almost anyone, Zelda would in the end kiss Link. However, I don't believe this should be. Link and Zelda may have something for eachother, but plot-wise, it's not possible. After Ganon's defeat, maybe, but it'd ruin the feeling of that moment. And I personally think that the idea of them loving each other but never acting upon it is...almost a sweet, innocent romantic plot. Woo, ok now for the plot. The funny thing is that Zeldas traditonally have borrowed from one another in many ways, so that if you havn't played nearly half of them, you'll be at a loss in certain plot aspects. A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, The Wind Waker, and (not so much) Link's Awakening all have relations to one another. The best way would be to combine the plots of OoT and ALttP (since they are so simalar), ignore Majora, as it is unimportant since TWW explains what hapens to the Hero, and pretty much leave TWW the way it is, except for the natrual changes needed to make it adaptable to film. Some mjor things that would need to be added (I think) are the Imprisoning War and the Death of Link's parents. These happen immediately before the events in OoT, soon after the birth of Link. I could go on...but I'll spare you the pain of reading everything I believe a Zelda movie should be.

Sometimes games are movies in themselves. Like the Jak trilogy for example. After playing the whole game, it was just like watching a movie, except I was a part of the outcome. I think that's so awesome. I guess some things are just better left the way they are I've never played the newer Zelda games, but I remember the age old original nintendo version...in fact I still have it around here somewhere. Hmmm...I wonder if it works. *runs to check*

Yeah, Zelda is one of those games. The newer ones, at least. Actually, most games these days are like movies in many ways. Especially RPGs.

My brother was watching "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" with Johnny Depp in it. All he told me was that Johnny liked to hide behind trees quite a bit.
I need to watch it now!!

My comp won't let me quote, but i see a great point when MFB said "Link is you. I know that was an old convo but that's a great response to the question of video game movies. Games are sorta unknowingly written in second person, but "you" gets specified. People are ok with that if it's a good character, but they also all sorta have their same view of the character. So it's hard.
HHGG was pretty good. The books were much more awesome, but the movie did a goop job. As almost always, I say i could have done some of it better because i can see where those parts are, but it was a pretty accurante-as-possible translation.

I didn't like the actors chosen AT ALL. I so totally think they could've chosen better people for some of the parts. Especially Trillian. That actress was horrific IMO.
Lessee, others movies....hmmm, I watched Mystic River this afternoon. It was horrible. Except that Kevin Bacon was in it and Kevin Bacon reminds me of Tremors which in turn reminds me of...the good old days, well the interesting days, not neccessarily good...but, yeah....
I've heard that the excorsism of Emily Rose was excellent. I'd really like to get to the theatre to see that.

Yeah, I'm, not sure what to think. Usually I just go and see the movie and think for myself. I don't normally have enough time to go to the movies, nor is there enough people with the money/will to go with me. Everyone else are wimps lol. Non one wants to go see a real scary movie.
I enjoy scary movies. In fact the one we will be watching at the Halloween thing is called "Poltergeist". I love that movie and it freaks me out no matter how many times I watch it. It's a really scary one, but the best thing about it is that it's not gory. Gory can be good sometimes, but I would rather watch sophisticated gore rather than just bloody gore and no story. *Wants to watch Hannibal*

I don't like gore at all; it really distracts me from the story and the movie itself. Suspence or a tense sort of horror is good if it is done well...for me it's really about plot though, and CG creatures. I havn't seen anything memorable lately, but am waiting for Narnia and Harry Potter IV. They have yet another director on this one, and he wants to make it more scary and suspenceful then has been done in the past. The pictures I've seen of the dragons so far are cool, but yet again they take a cool character (Moody) and make him look...inaccurate. Chicken Little...it just amuses me in principle, I don't know if I'll go see it.
