Here's a movie I've heard little of over here. Actually, I hadn't been hyped up about it until recently, becuse I found out who's doing the special effects and props. Two words: Weta Workshop. Oh yeah. Definently a must-see. I mean, you just have to see all the coolness things they're coming up with. Ah, it reminds me of the days before LotR was over, searching the web for random media. Tis coolness. Here is the link to the only movie media that I've seen. Tis an awesome behind-the-secenes with Richard Taylor and Weta: streamingmovies.ign.com/filmforce/article/575/575630/narnia-behindthemagicofweta_wmvlow.wmvKeep in mind that is a Windows Media Player movie, so unless you have high bandwidth (High Speed internet) then I'd recomend either downloading it (right click, then "save as") or skipping the video alltogether.

WETA! WOOHOOOOOO! epicity! I knew there'd be a movie coming out, but...i didn't see the link stuff yet, mind you. They were great books. My brother was complaning about having to read the first one in school, and i was like, i wish i had done that! i read them...really early. Should do so again, really. Aslan...cool stuff.

Yeah, I read the WHOLE serise when I was like...12 or so. I thought they were awesome. Back then I couldn't even stand the Hobbit, much less LotR, believe it or not. I can't wait now. Seeing all the weapons and rmies that Weta is developing for the movie, tis going to be epic.
Oh yes, and it will be filmed in New Zeland of course. Funny that Tolkien's and Lewis's movies are both being filmed in the same place, seeing as they developed their books during their friendship.

yeah, that's pretty awesome...Do you know who's directing it? Not PJ of course, he's doing King Kong, but...
I read them...way back when. Before 12 I'm positive. I just got bored with The Horse and His Boy, so that one took me longer. My favorite's The Dawn Treader, though The Silver Chair was cool too, with the giants...*ponders whether i own copies of Narnia which are not falling apart* O! And I always loved The "first" one, The Magician's Apprentice. That title's right, right? With the magic rings...and the world-between-worlds which i have based many things on...as folowers of ESPS Dij shall see/

erm, they were cartoons right? I think i've just seen little screenshots. Gasp! Imagine the video game potential!
My brother just read Narnia and pretty much hated them. He likes Harry Potter though. He thought the Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe was boring and to fantastical. Ugh.

I think the movie was awesome. They (pretty much) were very loyal to the book, and the creatures/animation made me fall in love with it; the scene in the trailor when the wolf captain speaks? The CG was awesome, acting pretty good for kids, very English feel. Notice how many English-set movies have come out lately? And they showed the trailor for Pirates II!

I found the movie to be a pleasent expericence. I would be happy to see more of its kind in the near future.

It did help to explain the Christian theology even for me, and didn't overdo it. When Aslan speaks of taking Edmund's sin for him, I sorta understood stuff...sometimes BC seems too far away from now. Probably if I saw the Passion I'd know it even more, but I do not know if I am going to do that.
I hope they make more Narnia movies! The Dawn Treader was always my favorite book. Also the Magician's Nephew, but rereading that I find it hard to see how it could be movieized. It's plot is not movie-condusive. Prince Caspain'd be good, and I think that's the one they plan to do next.

I can relate with you on that. I had this odd tingle run through me when I saw the stone table scene. I could not help but smile when Aslan said, "It is done". Oh it was a very good movie.

Yeah, that line was a nice tribute. They never talked about the Emperor over the Sea, suposedly Aslan's father, but that was goop. I always liked his potential though. I read the books when I was real young, so they were magic.

Prince Caspian is a lock. They've already greenlighted production. *happy dance*
2007 is the apx. release (I believe).

Really? How exciting. I likeses that one a lot. *mimbles* That was rather pointless... My favorite is VotDT though. (lol, people at MEI were using Narnia acronyms...surely Mr. Lewis can't like that. Too modern.)

I read them all when I was about 10 and liked them, but of the two best writers that taught at Oxford my loyalties lie with Tolkien. What about you?

Tolkien, but only because he took time to write his books, and he was a perfectionist and actually finished his books, so I know there might actually be some hope for me. *rolls eyes* But Lewis was amazing, as well, could turn out a book in one sitting, which is insane for how together his books are.
The movie was great the first time I saw it. We all cried... *rolls eyes again* The second time it lost a little bit for me, because I think I caught all of the intricacies the first time through, but I still really like it. And Mr. Tumnus was wicked cool. I'm really excited for when they finally get to The Magician's Nephew... I love that book. And The Final Battle. There were some pretty chilling scenes in that book that'l be awesome on-screen...

Yes...Tolkein and Lewis are kindof different because they aim for different things. Lewis wanted children's fantasy in the case of Narnia and theology in the case of many other of his stuff, and Tolkein went for high fantasy so his writer's voice had a much more deep and 'good' quality. So I like his words better, but Lewis's fit what he needs. His theology is pretty interesting--anyone read The Screwtape Letters?

Yup. Pretty interesting stuff.... I'm rather fond of Til We Have Faces, which is sort of a retelling of the story of... some mythological something which I can't remember. But it's really deep. And The Great Divorce was very good, as well. I think there was more to Lewis than people thought.
Tolkien actually started out writing children's fantasy, as well. The Hobbit, which was followed close after by LotR because of the sudden demand. Unfortunately, LotR sort of took off on him, and got deeper and darker than he really wished it to, so it wasn't really the children's book that his publishers were looking for. Thusly, it took him forever to get it published. Odd how these things work, eh?

Yep it's odd. I just saw L,W,&W and I though they did a good job except it started to drag towards the middle.
