I heard this movie is coming out December 15th. I started watching the trailer, but my computer decided to be a butt and didn't want to load it. The pictures from the movie look pretty cool though.
I never read the books, but I've heard they are pretty good. I may have to actually read it (I think I actually already have the first book)

I started reading Eragon and got too bored to finish it. The bottom line is that it is very typical fantasy. Country boy finds this dragon "chick" (what do you call a baby dragon?) and psychically bonds with it, goes on a quest with a old warrior and eventually meets an elven princess ( I think) to defeat the evil king and his hordes of creature minions and to restore the dragon-riding knights. It's Star Wars meets LotR meets Anne McCaffery's dragonriders series. Paolini cheated in getting it published; his parents own the company that originally did it. I mean it is a feat to have a novel done by nineteen, and it wasn't bad. But it doesn't merit anything extraordinary in my eyes.
But I'll probably go see the movie if the animation of the dragon and the general setup looks good, cause hey, it's a fantasy movie.

If they can pull off the dragon it'lkl make for a good movie. I guess having good actors wouldn't be a bad things either.

No it woudn't.
I saw the previews. It looks a lot darker than I expected for a kids' fantasy--atmosphereically dark. But it also looks like a ripoff of Star Wars and/or LotR. Nothing looked amazingly cool, but somewhat so.

I actually talked to someone in my english class and they said that a part of David Edding's book, verbatum nearly, was in Eragon.

What did David Eddings write? That sounds familiar. Wouldn't someone catch blatant plaigarism? Someone outside Paolini's family/publishing company, that is? He was published by someone 'real'.

I dunno. A girl in my english class is a David Edding's fan. She's the one that picked it up. I haven't had the chance to read his stuff yet....

I thought the movie was okay. It seemed to be more predictable than I would have like it to be even though I've never read the books. I thought the movie went a little fast when it came to Eragon bonding with his dragon. And why if the dragons had not been gone for hundreds of years does he just stare at her when she hatches saying, "What are you?". I thought it was kinda strange for someone who loved the tales of dragons to not recognize one.

SAw it. It sucks if you compair it with the books. If you view it as completely seperate its okay.

Did anyone else think it looked too similar to Lord of the Rings or Star Wars? There were several clips that if I had not seen the main characters face, would have taken it for a fanfic of Luke watching the sunset.
