Oh wow! They are putting Avatar 3D back on the big screen tomorrow but with scenes they had to cut from the original. There are only about eight minutes of new stuff, but I'm debating on whether or not to go. I really miss the 3D version. Here is the Youtube link for it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgW_pn60rsc

Okay I gave in and went to see the movie. I have only one word for it...EPIC!!!!
It was like watching it for the first time. There was a lot of the story missing (in the original) that they cut out, especially involving Tsu'tey! He has a lot more to do with the story than I originally thought.
Here are just a few things you see more of in the extend edition:
More animals (I loved seeing more of the ikrans!)
Grace's school.
Missing dialog between Jake and Neytiri/Tsu'tey.
Na'vi children and families.
Clan hunt!!!
More Trudy (Not much but more than the original. You're awesome Trudy!)
Tsu'tey's revenge.
A little more screen time with other tribe leaders.
Jake becomes Death/Last Shadow ( So, so sad T-T )
All in all, I it was worth it for me to watch this edition. I wish I could watch the clan hunt and Last Shadow again. Those two where my favorite/most intense parts of the movie. They are also missing pieces to character development for several character.
Again, it was a very good movie.

Re: Trailer: "The biggest adventure of all time"? No. That is Star Wars. : P
I'll probably ask for this DVD for Christmas, as I knew it was a bad idea to buy the "has nothing except the movie" disk, which screamed "new edition coming soon". I wish the trailer had more of the new footage in it, as I'm not sure I'll bother to go see it in the theatre, but certainly am interesting. Thanks for the play-by-play, Sar Sha--I'm veeerrrry interested at the prospect of more Tsu'tey and more critters.
What do you mean "Jake becomes Death/Last Shadow"? Someone dies? I love the phrase "Jake becomes Death"...a fanfic could certainly spawn around that.
Okay, I'm also uber-excited for more Trudy and more Grace's school. Can I get more detail about what was in each scene?
(But it's only eight minutes total?)

Sure. Like I said its not a lot of new footage, but you can see where they took out the clips.
The scene where Trudy goes from flying above a river to a jump scene over the waterfall they had a safari like clip were you say one of the animals they had taken out. That in turn took out the clan hunt scene which I think should have been left in.
Okay, remember how Jake left the helicopter without a survival pack but is later saved by one when the thanator attack him? Well you don't see him get it because they took out his stop at Grace's school. Its not much but you can see the old building, the work books, school models, and the signs of a human attack from the bullet holes in the blackboard. It makes Jake wonder what happened to the Na'vi before he meets them.
I can't tell much about dialog without messing up plot so that kinda has to be put on hold, but most of it lets you see the friendships/rivalries grow.
Na'vi kids are so cute. One of the girls apparently really liked Jake at the main dinner but was kept away by her father.
The clan hunt was so much fun in 3D! Clan members push the herd into a run with direhorses and Jake and other Irkran riders use their aerial advantage to bring down the animal species introduced at the beginning by Trudy (there is only one weakness in the armor making it a very hard animal to kill). This is the scene you see before it shifts to Jake saying "I was a stone cold aerial hunter. Death from above." You never get to see him on a real ikran hunt nor his first "sky kill" without that scene.
Trudy girl you'd have to look for but she does add a bit more to the story.
Tsu'tey's revenge. Tsu'tey goes off with a war party and kills the men who destroyed the Tree of Voices. This is why he didn't think anything of Jake's warnings about the Sky People coming after Home Tree. He honestly believed his warriors would be victorious since they won against that smaller unit.
You do get to see a little more of the clan leaders. The Easter Sea leader (female clan leader) survives the after math to help Jake with the wounded Na'vi.
Yeah the last shadow scene was animated wonderfully to make Jake look symbolically dark. He is walking among the dying Na'vi and one of them sees him and makes a very grim/gut retching comment. I can't recall it perfectly but it went along the lines of this:
Downed Warrior: "I can not serve the People...you must protect them for me. (He asks Jake to preform the same killing ritual that he did when he hunted that deer like animal).
Jake: "Brother I will not kill you."
Warrior: "It is decided! I have fought along side Toruk Makto and he shall be my last shadow."
Jake gives in and does as the warrior wishes (the lighting does actually give Jake a dark/death appearance which was kinda creepy) and later takes up the role of clan leader. So, so sad and yet epic!
Hope that helped.
